There's a lot of quirky things about living in a small town in the country. One thing that sort of 'chaps my hide' is that if you haven't lived here you whole life (and most have) you are considered an 'outsider'. Oh, the people are friendly, they just don't allow 'outsiders' to enter their inner circle of close friends. I really don't believe this is a conscious thing on their parts, but it is, nevertheless, true.
Many members of my family have moved here, and we all feel like outsiders. We have made some new friends who are in that same quandry - the, too, are 'outsiders'.(even though they have lived here more than 30 years.)
I said all of that to say this. Every Tuesday night, the local burger joint here in town has 1/2 price burgers. So, we have begun our own 'clan' of outsiders andget together fo 1/2 price burgers. Nothing fancy, just burgers, fries, and usually one of us makes a dessert. We eat and laugh - ALOT!!! I now look forward to Mondays because I know the next day is Tuesday. I have to say, these are some of my very favorite people in the world, and I love having them around my table!
